Our 5 Favorite Interior Design Trends for 2023

Another year is coming to a close. As you look towards the start of 2023, you might be wondering what styles will be trending in interior design and decor. I am happy to share my 2023 forecast, including several home upgrades you can make without a major renovation!

1. Gothic Interiors

It is no secret that bold and dramatic interiors have been making a statement this past year. We've seen doors, windows, trims, accent walls, and even ceilings going to the dark side.

This new year will push that envelope even further, and I anticipate that we will be seeing whole-room transformations for the dark and moody. I'm talking all four walls and ceilings in black, pops of color in brass and gold, and a transition to all dark furniture. These rooms will be gothic and beautiful. 2. Beautiful Browns

While neutral decor has made a huge mark on the interior design and decor world over the last couple of years, this year, I expect to see that neutrality move into more of a monochromatic look. This means layers upon layers of different shades of browns. From accent wood panels, exposed beams, accent pillows, rugs, and even lighting, beautiful browns will be a chic and natural vibe. 3. Soft & Feminine

Jewel tones have always been a nice way to incorporate a pop of luxe color, but blush tones in particular have made a comeback, moving soft and feminine style to the forefront.

We will be seeing a lot of pastels, florals, bedding, wall colors, and whimsical accessories in a variety of these beautiful pink hues. While some will use the color to accentuate, others will use it to create a whole room aesthetic. Add some sparkly lighting and decor pieces and you will nail this 2023 look. 4. Uplifting Lines

Uplifting lines are all about bringing the drama and leading the eyes up, as seen in this bathroom design. You’ll see this trend embraced through the use of gallery walls, floor to ceiling monochromatic tile, accent walls, etc. The use of dark furniture leading to a light ceiling, or vice versa, is another great way to try this.

Remember, however you choose to try this trend, the point is to make the focal point look grand by drawing the point of view towards the ceiling. The golden ratio is a great way to incorporate this trend into your home decor, as well.

5. Folksy Floral

In the last few years, there is no doubt that wallpaper has really made a big comeback. 2023 will continue to bring lots of oversized and busy floral prints. These will be in darker color (like this stunning almond blossom wallpaper) to bring moodiness and character to your room, giving off an air of a live wall. The best part about using these fun prints is that you can literally use them anywhere you choose, such as on the ceiling, as an accent wall, on a stairwell, etc.

A New Year of Possibilities

This is going to be a really fun year in interior design and decor. The emphasis will be on pushing the envelope of creativity and building upon existing aesthetics to level up and explore new possibilities. From soft and feminine to dark and moody, from bold and whimsical to down-to-earth and rustic — the sky is the limit!
